Latvian Themes 

My parents emigrated from Latvia to Canada after the Second World War. When I was young, I learned to weave simple traditional Latvian back-strap belts. I was hooked – I love watching woven threads combine to create a piece of patterned cloth. I am intrigued by the cultural messages that textile patterns carry – creating a visual language all their own.
